Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD presented Herdwatch co-founder Fabien Peyaud with the Innovation Arena Award for Innovative Software in Agriculture at a ceremony in Ratheniska, Co. Laois, where the 2014 National Ploughing Championships were taking place.

Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney TD took time out of his busy schedule to visit the Herdwatch stand, where he congratulated the team on winning their Innovation award.

He expressed his view that “technology has a big role to play in farming and Herdwatch should be seen as a very positive development for farmers who can use it to their advantage by saving time and making compliance easier.”

“We are absolutely thrilled to receive this award in the biggest agri innovation event of the year. Our users tell us Herdwatch has taken Farming Apps to a whole new level, and this is a further endorsement by top Agri and Business organisations in Ireland”, said Fabien Peyaud of Herdwatch, “Farmers have responded to our innovation by signing up to Herdwatch in their hundreds, which is the real test for any software product in this tough market.”

The Innovation Arena event was created by Alfie Cox (Tanco Engineering Founder) 4 years ago, and is now sponsored by Enterprise Ireland, Farmers Journal/Top Link, Teagasc and NPA. It was a roaring success with thousands of visitors checking out the 30 innovations on show over the 3 days.
