Assistant Dairy Farm Manager
We are looking for a reliable and motivated Assistant Dairy Farm Manager to join a modern dairy farm based near Birr, Co. Offaly. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid dairy experience who wants to work in a well-run, well-equipped system with strong support from the owner.
The Role:
You will work closely with the farm owner and take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the farm, including but not limited to:
- Grassland management and grazing planning
- Milking routine and parlour management
- Monitoring young stock health and performance
- Heat detection using tail paint and presentation of cows for breeding
- Staff rostering and organising cover when required
- Problem solving across daily farm operations
- Reporting directly to the owner
Farm Setup:
- Modern facilities throughout
- Modern parlour with ACRs (Automatic Cluster Removers)
- Electronic drafting in place
- Always two people milking
- Clean, tidy, and well-maintained farm – high standards expected
Working Hours:
- Morning milking starts at 7:00am
- Evening milking finished by 5:30pm
- No extra work required after evening milking
Roster & Time Off:
- Structured roster with paid time off
- Required to work 2 weekends per month (or organise suitable replacement, with owner support)
