Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Calf Rearer to join a large-scale, well-managed calf rearing farm. The role involves the day-to-day care and management of calves, with a strong focus on health, welfare, and performance. Prior experience is essential, and experience with automatic calf feeders is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily care and management of calves from arrival through rearing stages
- Operating and monitoring automatic calf feeding systems
- Mixing milk replacer and ensuring feeders are clean and functioning correctly
- Monitoring calf health and identifying early signs of illness
- Administering treatments in line with farm protocols
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene and biosecurity
- Accurate record keeping related to feeding, health, and growth
- Working closely with farm management to achieve performance targets
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in calf rearing is essential
- Experience with auto calf feeders preferred
- Strong stock sense with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- Commitment to animal welfare and farm hygiene
