FRS was proud to support and attend the 2026 Ag Colleges Challenge Day, hosted at Teagasc Ballyhaise Agricultural College, Co. Cavan, on 11th February. Organised by Teagasc and Macra na Feirme, the event brought together Level 5 students from agricultural colleges across Ireland for a full day of practical, skills-based competition focused on teamwork, technical ability and real-world problem-solving.
Showcasing the Future of Agricultural Education in Ireland
Seven colleges competed across multiple land-based disciplines including fencing, welding, tractor driving, specialist skills and team challenges. The high standard of practical skills demonstrated throughout the day highlights the strength of agricultural education in Ireland and the talent pipeline emerging into the sector.
The FRS Memorial Scholarship
A key feature of the event was the FRS Memorial Scholarship Presentation. Colette McInerney, Head of Operations with FRS, commented: “The 2026 Ag Colleges Challenge Day showcased an exceptional level of knowledge, effort and professionalism. We were delighted to be involved again this year and to see students demonstrating such strong technical skills across all disciplines.”
