Essential service provider, FRS Farm Relief Services, have joined forces with Teagasc and FBD to deliver two excellent initiatives that supports farmers who are struggling in this challenging time due to Covid-19.
In this time of uncertainty, FRS have made great efforts to ensure that Irish farmers have a farm worker at hand should they fall ill due to Covid-19. During this busy time for farmers, measures have been put in place to help maintain farm productivity.
Teagasc have set up a Regional Farm Labour Database that links farm families where a farmer or a farm worker becomes ill with COVID 19, with an available relief worker through FRS.
Additionally, FBD have introduced a new initiative to financially assist their farm customers affected by a COVID-19 diagnosis. Upon diagnosis and if a farmer is unable to work, an FRS voucher of €500 (subject to T&C’s) will be provided to assist in keeping farms operational during this busy period.
In the event of a farmer becoming ill and/or testing positive for COVID19, they may require hospitalisation and isolation during their period of recovery and FRS will step in to take the burden of the farm work out of the equation.

While FRS have a substantial database of experienced operators, we must plan for a situation where demand for FRS operators increases dramatically. These joint initiatives with Teagasc and FBD, supported by other farming organisations, will help farmers through this difficult time and FRS are here to ensure delivery of essential service to the agricultural industry.”

FRS have issued guidelines to all their operators to ensure safety and best practice at this time and have also put together guidelines for the farmer to follow should they have a suspected case or test positive for Covid-19.
