The Farm
A modern, grass-based 100-cow dairy enterprise. We run a highly efficient operation and require a dependable, dedicated individual to work alongside the farm owner and take on day-to-day responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Livestock & Herd Management:
- Milking: Perform morning and evening milking using our Herringbone parlour, ensuring high standards of hygiene and animal welfare.
- Animal Health: Monitor herd health, assist with calving, and aid in treating conditions (e.g., mastitis and lameness).
- Calf Rearing: Oversee colostrum management, feeding, and daily care of calves.
- Feeding: Assist with mixing/pushing feed.
Machinery & Field Operations:
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate tractors and farm machinery for daily feeding, slurry, and bedding.
- Field Work: Assist with grassland management tasks (e.g., topping, mowing, and fertiliser application as required).
- Yard Upkeep: General upkeep, cleaning, and maintenance of farm buildings, fences, and yards.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience Essential: Proven track record with hands-on livestock husbandry and operating modern farm machinery (tractors, loaders, etc.).
- Skills: Strong understanding of cow behaviour, milking hygiene, and basic tractor/machinery maintenance.
- License: Full, clean driver’s license.
