Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Dairy Farm Worker to join the FRS Farm Services team. For this role, you will be working on a 150 cow spring calving dairy farm. The successful candidate will assist with the daily operations of the farm, ensuring that the cows are well-cared for, the milking process runs smoothly, and the overall farm environment is kept clean and efficient.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Milking: Assist with milking operations, including setting up, operating, and maintaining milking equipment. Ensure cows are properly handled, and hygiene standards are maintained throughout the milking process.
  • Animal Husbandry: Monitor the health and well-being of cows, assist with the care of pregnant cows, newborn calves, and any cows in distress. This includes feeding, bedding, and ensuring the comfort of the herd.
  • Health Monitoring: Regularly check for signs of illness, injury, or distress in the herd. Administer medications or treatments as directed by the farm manager or veterinarian.
  • Calf Rearing: Assist with the feeding and care of calves, including proper housing, feeding schedules, and general health monitoring.
  • Other Duties: Assist with any other farm tasks as required, including but not limited to, assisting with other seasonal activities and supporting the farm team as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working on a dairy farm is necessary.
  • Ideally you will have experience working alone in a 16+unit parlour.
  • Knowledge of dairy farm equipment, animal care, and general farming practices is a plus.
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work long hours, including early mornings and weekends, as needed.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Understanding of animal welfare and biosecurity protocols.
  • A valid driver’s license is necessary.

Working Hours:

  • Full-time, with flexible working hours depending on the season.
  • Early mornings, evenings, and weekend shifts may be required, particularly during busy periods like calving season.
