Job Title: Dairy Farm Worker
Location: Rathcabban Area
Farm Size: ~180 Spring-Calving Dairy Herd
Reports To: Farm Owner/Manager
Job Purpose
To assist in the day-to-day running of grass-based dairy farm, ensuring high standards of animal care and farm maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to:
Animal Husbandry
- Feeding stock and managing grazing rotations
- Handling livestock safely and efficiently
- Assisting with AI, heat detection, and breeding programmes
- Administering basic treatments under guidance
Farm Operations
- General farm work: fencing, cleaning, yard scraping, bedding
- Machinery operation (tractors, feeders, slurry equipment)
- Assisting with silage, fertiliser spreading, and grassland management
- Maintaining high hygiene and bio security standards
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience on a dairy farm preferred
- Good understanding of animal welfare and herd management
- Ability to operate farm machinery safely
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic record-keeping skills
Working Hours
- 8.30 am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with grass-based systems
- Full driving licence
