Job Title: Experienced Spring Dairy Farm Worker (Temporary, Full time Position)

Start Date: January 15th
Employment Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday). May require weekend cover on occasion.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Spring Dairy Farm Worker to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of a large dairy farm, particularly throughout the busy spring period. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong dairy experience, confidence working independently, and a genuine interest in livestock and farm operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Milking:
  • Manage a 36-unit parlour independently, including setup, milking, washing down, and maintaining milk quality standards.
  • Monitor cow health, behaviour, and identify issues promptly.
  • Calf Rearing:
  • Take full responsibility for new born and young calf care, including feeding, hygiene, health checks, and early disease detection.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and well-organised calf housing.
  • Machinery Operation:
  • Operate farm machinery safely and efficiently (tractors, feeders, loaders, etc.).
  • Assist with slurry work, feeding, bedding, and general machinery tasks as required.
  • Farm Maintenance & General Duties:
  • Assist with fencing, repairs, and upkeep of farm infrastructure.
  • Support the farmer with general labour tasks across the farm.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety at all times.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 – 3 years experience on a dairy farm, ideally in a spring-calving system.
  • Proven ability to run a 36-unit parlour alone when required.
  • Strong calf-rearing experience and understanding of best practices.
  • Competent operator of tractors and farm machinery.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Reliable, hardworking, and committed to high animal welfare standards.
  • Full driving licence preferred.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday, full-time labour unit.
  • Occasional flexibility during peak spring workload may be required.
