Position: Second Person / Parlour Assistant
Duration: Approximately 1 month
Days: 3-4 days per week
Herd: 190 cows
Parlour: 24-unit BouMatic
Milking Times: 7:00am and 3:00pm
Role Overview
We are looking for a reliable second person in the milking parlour for approximately one month. This is not a milker position. The main responsibility will be assisting with cow preparation before milking to ensure cows are properly prepared and the parlour runs efficiently.
Main Duties
- Spray and properly prepare cows before milking.
- Ensure cows are thoroughly dried before cups are put on.
- Assist the main milker throughout the milking process.
- Help maintain a clean, organised and efficient parlour.
- Follow good hygiene and animal-handling practices.
- Carry out other general parlour duties as required.
Working Hours
The role will involve 3-4 days per week, covering the morning and afternoon milkings:
- 7:00am milking
- 3:00pm milking
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate should:
- Be reliable and punctual.
- Be comfortable working around dairy cows.
- Have good attention to detail, particularly with cow preparation.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous dairy or parlour experience required.
This is a short-term position for approximately one month, with the potential for additional work depending on requirements.
