The Soil Sampling and Analysis Programme which opened on the 16th of October will close on the 30th of October 2023.

About the Programme: The programme is a farm level soil sampling and analysis initiative which will provide farmers and their advisors with comprehensive details about the nutrient status, carbon status and indicators of soil health on their farms. These results can be used to target soil management and farming practices to achieve economic and environmental sustainability on their farms. In lieu of payment each farmer will receive the analysis reports with information on macro- and micro- nutrients, soil carbon and indications of the presence of harmful bacteria. Information collected through the programme will enable better monitoring of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) at a national and regional level. This will strengthen understandings of the magnitude of AMR and facilitate the development of containment strategies.

How to Apply: The programme is open to farmers across the country and the full list of eligibility criteria can be found in the Terms and Conditions. Applications can be made through www.agfood.ie and full details are available here https://www.gov.ie/…/4896d-pilot-soil-sampling-programme.

Applications will be accepted on a first come first serve basis until the programme has been fully subscribed.

Closing Date: The closing date for farmer applications under the programme is the 30th of October 2023.
